Justin Bieber Arrested for DUI & Drag Racing

January 24, 2014

Justin Bieber was arrested for DUI and drag racing in Miami, Florida, after he was caught racing a Lamborghini in a residential street against R&B singer Khalil, who was driving a Ferrari.  Bieber was traveling 55 to 60 mph in a 30 mph zone.  Bieber was also driving using an expired driver’s license.  When he was confronted by the police, Bieber wasn’t cooperative which led to an additional charge of resisting arrest.  19 year old Bieber admitted to drinking alcohol, smoking marijuana and taking prescription drugs.  For more information about the story, click here.

If these crimes occurred in California, Bieber would be facing Vehicle Code section 23152(a) and/or Vehicle Code section 23152(b), along with a speed allegation, for the DUI; Vehicle Code section 12500(a) for the invalid license; Vehicle Code section 23109(a) for the speed contest and Penal Code section 148(a)(1) for the resisting arrest.  Since Bieber was underage, he’d lose his driving privilege for a year.  On top of that, there’s a 60-day jail minimum for the speed allegation which prohibits driving in excess of 20 mph on residential streets while under the influence of alcohol.   But Bieber doesn’t care, as you can tell by his mugshot.  He clearly didn’t realize the party was over.
