A United States Border Patrol Agent was arrested in Texas after allegedly confessing to killing 4 women. Juan David Ortiz, 35, has been charged with four counts of murder, one count of unlawful restraint, and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. All killings took place between September 3 and September 15. Ortiz is currently being held on $2.5 million bond and has yet to plea to the charges against him.

All four victims were shot in the head with a handgun. Officials have yet to rule out additional victims. A fifth woman alleges she was kidnapped by Ortiz but managed to escape to a nearby gas station.

Webb County District Attorney Isidro Alaniz reports the first victim, 29-year-old Melissa Ramirez, was killed on Sept. 3. 42-year-old Claudine Luera was allegedly shot to death by Ortiz on Sept. 10. The two remaining victims have not yet been identified but all victims were alleged to be sex workers.

Ortiz was arrested around 2 AM on Saturday morning after the fifth victim went to police to report the crime. The victim told police she managed to escape him when he brandished a handgun and threatened her.

Ortiz worked as a border patrol for ten years and served in the US Navy.
